The Northern Territory Parliament commences its October sittings tomorrow, Tuesday 23 October.
Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Lia Finocchiaro said that the Opposition’s focus in Parliament this week will include:
- The Territory’s worsening alcohol and crime crisis;
- The lack of genuine consultation on projects like the new youth detention facility being dumped in the Pinelands industrial business zone and the National Indigenous Art Gallery in Alice Springs;
- The Territory’s bulging debt levels and economy dripping with red ink and
- The outdated and discriminatory Motor Accident Compensation Act (MACA) scheme
"The Opposition has briefed Parliamentary Counsel to draft legislation to repeal the alcohol floor price, and we look forward to bringing it before Parliament.
"This will be the first repeal bill presented by the Opposition to the Parliament in the 13th Assembly," said Ms Finocchiaro.
