Notice given on floor price legislation

23 October 2018

Today the Territory Opposition gave notice that the Opposition’s floor price repeal legislation will be before Parliament tomorrow.

The Opposition has sought to repeal the floor price, as result of the Labor government misleading Territorians on the effect and evaluation of the floor price.

Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Lia Finocchiaro said that Labor should be listening to Territorians, and supporting the repeal legislation.

"The Opposition maintains that the floor price does not address the chronic alcoholism that is plaguing the Northern Territory.

"Labor misled Territorians, and the Opposition has heard loud and clear that Territorians are not happy.

In Question Time this afternoon, when asked directly, the Territory Labor government stubbornly refused to advise Territorians:

  •  Whether Labor would support the repeal legislation and
  •  Whether Labor would commit to evaluating the floor price before the next election (2020)

"Labor’s arrogance is astounding," said Ms Finocchiaro.
