Missing knives and machetes a concern

8 July 2019

The Gunner Labor Government needs to immediately take action to address the 50 missing stolen knives from Camping World in Berrimah last week that may have been used in the three knife assaults at the weekend.

Deputy Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro said a machete assault in Coconut Grove and two other knife assaults at the weekend were of serious concern, and the community deserve to know if the incidents are related.

"Our police work incredibly hard, and should be given the resources they need to deal with this issue immediately," she said.

"The inaction from this Gunner Labor Government on delivering real consequences for offenders, and also only focusing on generational change is failing Territorians.

"The Gunner Labor Government is happy to sit there and say they are doing the work, but we’re still the worst performing economy in the country, continue to have the lowest level of business confidence in the nation and a crime crisis that Territorians are crying out for the Government to get a handle on now."
