Labor arrogance inexcusable

28 OCTOBER 2019

The Gunner Labor Government has shown complete contempt for the democratic process.

The Member for Nelson has been denied access to tomorrow’s Economic Scrutiny Committee when the Sex Industry Bill is discussed.

Opposition Leader Gary Higgins said the reason for this arrogance and exclusion was inexcusable.

"Denying the Member for Nelson a voice in the Parliament, and treating the people of his electorate like second class citizens, is indefensible," he said.

"Territorians should not have their voices shut out of the Parliament because of the arrogance of a few.

"The Gunner Labor Government has clearly made up its mind on this issue by trying to shut out an entire electorate from giving their views.

"This Gunner Labor Government has shown time and time again their arrogance is getting in the way of governing for all Territorians, but this act of exclusion really takes the cake.

"If a Member of Parliament is denied access to a Parliamentary process, the question must be asked – is this a dictatorship, or a democracy?"
