Opposition Leader Gary Higgins has welcomed the announcement of Josh Thomas as the CLP’s candidate for Johnston.
He said Mr Thomas’s passion for the community would make him a quality candidate for the people of Johnston.
“What we’ve seen is a huge turn in support of the Gunner Labor Government, who have failed to convince anyone of their experience in managing an economy, or getting a grip on the crime plaguing the area,” he said.
“While the Gunner Labor Government has been wasting millions on pet projects and social experiments, we’ve been working behind the scenes on a new and improved CLP, and I believe the candidates we’ve selected so far are quality Territorians willing to do the work and make the Territory a better place for everyone.”
Mr Higgins said there is a lot more hard work to be done, but he was confident the new team will be more than up to the task.
“We need a government that leads by example and looks after the Territory’s interest, not their own,” he said.
“What we’ve seen over the last three years is Labor continually scrambling to look after the interests of a few at the expense of many, and when they’re not doing that, they are failing at the basics – they don’t know how to govern, they don’t know how to do the work.
“Time and again we have called on Labor to implement some practical measures to address some of our major issues.
“The Gunner Labor Government needs to stop the waste, diversify the economy, free up business, encourage private sector investment, remove unnecessary regulation and support wealth generating infrastructure.”
